Very Sad News

Not many of you may be aware, but Alyric, our wife and mother, has been bravely battling cancer for the last year.

It is with a lot of sadness that we must tell you that she passed away last Saturday. She was an incredibly courageous woman, and whether or not you agreed with her, she always fought for what she thought was right. She always fought for the betterment of people, and not the detriment.

More than that, she was a woman who deeply touched those around her everywhere she went.

And she was the most wonderful wife and mother that anyone could have asked for.

We shall leave the blog existing as it stands as a memory to the hard work and dedication Alyric put in for a cause she truly believed in. Thank you to all those who cared for her.

- Clomle44 (alyric's daughter) and Alyric's Husband.

Oh how terrible. I am so sorry for your loss. I have been reading Alyric's blog for ages and was always delighted to see a new post go up knowing there would be some good stuff well worth reading and enjoying and often, something to learn from. This morning, I saw her blog listed in my Google reader and smiled not knowing what the content of the post would turn out to be.

You must be very proud of the amazing woman she was, which those of us who only know her through our computer screens have been able to get to know just a bit.

I am shocked and saddened by the terrible news. An important and strong voice has been lost. My thoughts are with you as you deal with your grief. I'm so sorry.

Alyric was so deeply intelligent, so witty, so articulate, and so staunch in her advocacy for respect for autistic children and adults. We had several wonderful, lively phone conversations. The first lasted nearly an hour; we dished like we'd known each other for years. I so wanted to meet her in person. I am so sad right now. My heart is with you all.

Very sad to hear.
I will miss her greatly.
Her wit and intelligence enriched our community immeasurably.
There is one variety of life-hereafter -- indeed heaven -- that is visible and tangible to us who remain living: one lives on, in the memory of others, and (recursively) of those with whom that memory is shared. By that measure, Alyric is in heaven already, all across the blogosphere.
My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Zichronah l'brachah -- may her memory be a blessing.

I am stunned by this news, and saddened by it,too. I'm sorry to hear this.

I only knew her through her posts, and I will remember her as someone you didn't mess about/with. Her posts and comments will be missed by those of us who knew her this way, in this particular mode of existence.

My condolences go to her family and to others she leaves behind. May her children find her in themselves through what they learned from her; may her husband find her in their children through the same; and may they find comfort in knowing that she lives on in that way as well as in what she had to say to the world.

I am deeply sorry about this loss. And I wish her family and friends much comfort from their memories of her.
